'Why give up a good life?': KJ responds to minister speculation

SHAH ALAM – Former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin revealed that he is currently enjoying his life and has no plans to leave it behind.

"I'm enjoying a good life right now, so why would I give that up?" he said when approached by reporters at the launch of Tealive’s 3-in-1 Beverage Powder at a shopping centre on Thursday.

His response came amidst speculation he might be appointed to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Cabinet.

This speculation arose after Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad recently resigned, following their defeat in the PKR party elections.

Several media reports suggested the former lawmaker, might make a return as a minister.

When asked to comment on former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s call for Malays, regardless of political affiliation, to join the Malay People's Secretariat movement, Khairy declined to give a statement.

"I'm not a member of Perikatan Nasional (PN) or Umno at the moment. It's best I don’t comment, let’s focus on today’s launch," he said.

On Wednesday, Dr Mahathir announced the formation of the Malay People's Secretariat, aimed at uniting all parties advocating for Malay interests under one umbrella.

He said the initiative was a step towards restoring political power and addressing the challenges faced by the Malay community.
